Us
The Law Foundation of British Columbia funds the Legal Advocacy
program. The legal Advocacy program examines, reviews and
highlights issues to improve conditions of agricultural workers
through legal education and law reform.

Who
We Are
The Legal Advocacy Program is co-managed by both the Abbotsford
Community Services Society and the Progressive Intercultural Community Services
to address the unique needs of the farm workers
in the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley Region.
Program Objectives
To provide legal
information and redress accessibility to farm workers
in the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley area
Research and analysis
on policies and law (Municipal, Provincial, and Federal) which
deny equitable treatment to the seasonal workers
Advocate and lobby
for changes in such policies
Liaise, enhance
and coordinate with existing Agricultural Worker Advisory
Committee
Farm workers Committee
and other support/reference based consortiums
Deliver educational
workshops to workers to inform them of their rights and responsibilities
in the workplace
Compile and develop
an Agriculture Worker's Resource Center for both organizations
Develop a standard
in service delivery, referral and information for Abbotsford
Community Services and Progressive
Intercultural Community Services Progressive
Intercultural Community Services.

Promoting legal
education.
Increasing awareness
among seasonal workers.
Identify, assess,
and address policy and legislation to improve the working
conditions of seasonal workers.
Work in partnership
with legal professional to ensure legally redress for seasonal
workers.
Establish a net
work of service providers through out British Columbia and
conduct information session to high light the main issues
affecting seasonal farm workers.
Ensure that relevant
information on the rights to obligations of the seasonal workers
are presented to them in consistent and timely manner.
